Battery Act

As a retailer of products that contain batteries, rechargeable batteries and/or electrical components (such as luxury watches, watch winders, writing instruments with electronic parts), we are legally obliged to inform you about the applicable provisions on the proper return and disposal.

1. The Battery Act (BattG)

Your obligation as a consumer (BattG)

Attention: Batteries and rechargeable batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. You are legally obliged to dispose of all used batteries and rechargeable batteries exclusively via the collection points provided for this purpose (e.g. in retail stores or at municipal recycling centres).

The crossed-out wheelie bin symbol means that the battery must not be placed in household waste.

Marking Meaning
Pb Battery contains more than 0.004 percent by mass of lead
Cd Battery contains more than 0.002 percent by mass of cadmium
Hg Battery contains more than 0.0005 percent by mass of mercury

Our take-back obligation as a retailer (BattG)

We are obliged to take back, free of charge, batteries and rechargeable batteries that were purchased from us.

Return shipment: If you would like to send your used batteries or rechargeable batteries back to us, we ask you to ensure the shipment is sufficiently franked.

2. The Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG)

Your obligation as a consumer (ElektroG)

Old electrical appliances bearing the crossed-out wheelie bin symbol may not be disposed of with household waste since 24 March 2006. This regulation applies to all electronic and electrical devices, including watch winders and electronic luxury watches.

Appliance take-back

  • Municipal collection points: Old appliances are taken back free of charge by towns and municipalities at collection points (e.g. recycling centres).
  • Retailer obligation: Large retailers are additionally obliged to take them back.

We ask you to use this option in order to protect the environment and to ensure the recycling of valuable raw materials.
