Léon Breitling founded a small workshop with the aim to devote himself to the exclusive fields of the art of watchmaking in the year 1883 in Saint-Imier in Bernese Jura and concentrated on the development of the finest precision instruments for the industry, science and sports.

As early as 1915, Breitling launches the first wrist watch with a central chronograph dial and a meter for 30 minutes. In 1923, the first independent chronograph pushers were introduced and 11 years later, 1934, Breitling introduced the second independent chronograph pusher which enabled the reset to zero. This technique has generally become accepted quickly, was adopted by all of the competitors and now is part of the worldwide standard. Since then, the collections by the brand with the "winged B" are omnipresent in the world of luxury timepiece. Today, Breitling's portfolio is wide so that you can find the right model for nearly any taste.

Partner of aeronautics

Due to the outstanding quality and the continuous innovative spirit, Breitling accompanies not only athletic contests and automobile races but also the first master strokes of the aviation pioneers. The aeronautical tradition began with the creation of the operation for the mechanism of the chronograph through the supply of the Royal Air Force with on-board clocks up to the recommendation of the Navitimer as the clock for pilots in the year 1952 by the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA). The Breitling Navitimer Cosmonaute even flew twice around the world in the capsule Aurora 7 together with Scott Carpenter in the year 1962.

Chronometer-certified watchmaking art

All models of Breitling distinguish themselves by the highest possible seal of quality: They have been awarded the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres. This official control of chronometers, abbreviated as COSC, is the highest authority regarding reliability and precision. No matter whether the clock unit is mechanical or Quartz – Breitling is the one and solely famous watch brand which lets all clock units be certified.

Pilot watch par excellence – Chronoliner

Visually closely linked to the first originals from the 1950s and 1960s the Breitling Chronoliner has not lost any of its charm. As queen of the skies, the luxury aviator watch with its accentuated broad bezel always cuts a fine figure. The functions do not lag behind the visual benefits with the Breitling Chronoliner: Just as made for pilots the 4-hand watch displays a second time zone. The automatic chronograph has continually convinced for decades.

Legend of the skies: Navitimer

The Navitimer is an icon in the history of exclusive pilot watches. The model launched in 1952 for the first time is now available in numerous, special variants and probably associated with the name Breitling like no any other. Whether in the 46 mm version as Navitimer 01 46 or as unparalleled functional instrument of world time like in the Navitimer World – the Breitling timepieces always know time, position and speed. A wider variety of dials, colours and material compositions can hardly be found in a series of luxury timepieces.

For the seas of the world: Superocean

With the Superocean II 44 from the watch line Breitling Superocean, the brand refers to the anchor of its B logo. The diving watch of superlatives shows a very different image of the brand which is visible on the missing sub-dials – contrary to the numerous pilot chronographs.
