Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean GMT: Dive Watch with a Second Time Zone

Omega presented the first Planet Ocean with GMT function in 2013, at that time with the Co-Axial calibre 8605. Since 2016 the Planet Ocean GMT has been a Co-Axial Master Chronometer. On the GMT models an additional hour hand, which circles the dial once in 24 hours, indicates a second time zone; when travelling you adjust the hour hand without stopping the watch. Water-resistant to 600 metres and with a helium escape valve, it remains a fully fledged dive watch.

43.5 mm Stainless Steel and 45.5 mm Ceramic

The 43.5 mm Planet Ocean GMT in stainless steel features a bidirectional bezel in polished black and white ceramic, whose 24-hour scale distinguishes day from night. The 45.5 mm models "Deep Black" (2016) and "Big Blue" (2017) are made of ceramic and indicate the second time zone via a GMT ring on the dial; in 2023 they were followed by the "Dark Grey" with a case of silicon nitride ceramic.

Planet Ocean Worldtimer

In 2025 Omega brought world time to the Planet Ocean – as the first model in the collection with this complication. The Worldtimer measures 45.5 mm, and its case and bezel are made of black ceramic. At the centre of the dial a laser-ablated surface of grade 5 titanium shows the Earth as seen from the North Pole, surrounded by a 24-hour display with day and night sections and a city ring that also includes Omega's home town of Bienne. It is available with turquoise or grey accents. It is powered by calibre 8938 with a 60-hour power reserve, which has also been at work in the Seamaster Aqua Terra Worldtimer since 2017.

Master Chronometer According to METAS

Every Planet Ocean GMT of the Master Chronometer generation undergoes eight tests by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS); the permitted rate deviation is 0 to +5 seconds per day. Magnetic fields of up to 15,000 gauss do not affect the movement.

The Planet Ocean within the Seamaster family
