Continuously produced since 1959, the Commander ranks among the most successful models of the traditional brand from Le Locle. Its secret: combining the noble character of a dress watch with a subtle hint of sportiness. The Mido watches achieve this through a series of cultivated design features: all models of the diverse collection have an ultra-thin bezel, complemented by an angled rim of the dial to create a three-dimensional impression. In addition, the Commander stands out from the crowd with U-shaped, inward-opening edges of the indices and completes its confident appearance with finely decorated Obélisque hands for the hour and minute.

These shared features characterize a broad model spectrum that includes seven dial colors and several diameters from 23.5 to 42.5 millimeters. The available complications include simple day-date functions, COSC-certified chronographs, and the popular big date in the Commander Big Date. Positioned at six o'clock, it features two concentrically arranged number rings and gives the Mido an extraordinary presence. For the 60th anniversary of the Commander in 2019, the Big Date appears in a Limited Edition of 1,959 pieces, whose distinguishing features are a proud "60" marking at 12 o'clock and a red second hand.
