Leather is a natural material that has been prized for thousands of years for its look and feel. And although many luxury watches today also come on bracelets and straps made of other materials, leather straps remain as popular as ever. We took a look through the manufacturers' current collections and put together our own top 10 luxury watches on a leather strap.
Leather Straps for Luxury Men's Watches – From Dressy to Sporty
A leather strap was originally the classic choice for men's watches, but many luxury men's watches are now offered on bracelets or straps made of stainless steel, gold, titanium, fabric, or rubber. Even so, leather continues to hold a particularly large market share among the various strap materials.

A fine leather strap is still the first choice for particularly elegant dress watches. And technological advances have made it possible to offer leather straps for high-end sports watches that are not only very rugged but even largely water-resistant.
Another reason for the material's popularity is undoubtedly the wide variety of leather types and finishing techniques.
From bold, rugged alligator to the finest calfskin, leather straps can feature a wide range of textures; their surfaces can be smooth or rough, and with the right dyeing techniques they can take on almost any color imaginable.
Cellini: The Elegant Rolex on a Leather Strap
Kicking off our top 10 luxury men's watches on a leather strap with Rolex may surprise some watch enthusiasts. After all, Rolex is one of those brands whose luxury men's watches are overwhelmingly offered on steel or gold bracelets. Nevertheless, the brand's lineup includes an entire collection of men's watches that is offered exclusively on leather straps.
It's the Rolex Cellini, available both as a simple three-hander and with complications such as a pointer date, a second time zone, or a moon phase display. Exceptionally refined detailing, a supremely elegant look, and cases in 18-karat Everose or white gold are the hallmarks of this impressive collection.
Breitling for Bentley B06: Inspired by Luxury Automaking
Under the name Breitling for Bentley, the Swiss pilot's chronograph specialist teamed up with the renowned British carmaker to create a collection of luxury men's watches whose design details are unmistakably inspired by automobile engineering.
This is especially true of the Breitling Bentley B06 chronograph. Powered by Breitling's in-house caliber B06, it offers a reinterpretation of the 30-second chronograph that Breitling patented in 1926. One of its technical highlights is a central hand that makes a full sweep of the dial every half minute, allowing timing accurate to one-eighth of a second.
Another interesting detail of this exclusive watch is the rotating bezel for calculating average speeds. Although the Breitling for Bentley is also available on a steel bracelet, it really comes into its own on a leather strap. After all, anyone buying a luxurious Bentley would hardly forgo pairing its sophisticated automotive engineering with an interior of the finest leather.
Monaco: TAG Heuer Brings Its '70s Icon Back to Life
In 1969, under the name Monaco, TAG Heuer – then still without the TAG in its name – launched a sporty self-winding chronograph that would soon become one of the best-known watch icons of the 1970s. It stood out from other watches at first glance thanks to its distinctive square case, and the fact that none other than Steve McQueen wore it in the racing film Le Mans and on other occasions secured its immortal fame. As a result, the model remains part of TAG Heuer's lineup to this day.
The Monaco earns its place on a list of the top 10 luxury men's watches on a leather strap mainly because it is offered with, among other options, perforated leather straps. The perforations not only improve breathability and therefore wearing comfort, but also suit the style of a 1970s motorsport watch particularly well. Either way, the TAG Heuer Monaco is iconic.
Tone-on-Tone: Luxury Watches on Leather Straps from Omega and Tudor
Especially appealing visual effects can be achieved when the dial and leather strap share the same color. The watch case can then either contrast with them or match them as well. Omega and Tudor offer two examples of this, which we were happy to include in our top 10. To honor its partnership with Ducati, Tudor released a special edition in its Fastrider line.
The sports chronograph called the Tudor Fastrider Black Shield has a jet-black ceramic case along with a dial and leather strap in the same color, against which the white indexes and the strap's white contrast stitching stand out clearly.
Omega, on the other hand, offers its De Ville Co-Axial Chronograph in a version in which the 18-karat rose gold case, along with the Roman hour numerals and hands in the same material, creates a particularly attractive contrast with the dark blue dial and matching crocodile leather strap.
Junghans and Nomos Glashütte: Fine Leather Straps and Bauhaus Design
If you prefer timeless, purist watch design in the Bauhaus style, the two German watchmakers Nomos Glashütte and Junghans offer an especially rich selection of men's watches on leather straps.

Here, we're adding the Junghans Max Bill Chronoscope with black strap and dial, as well as the Nomos Glashütte Ludwig Automatik Datum, to our top 10.
Certina, Bruno Söhnle, and Tissot: Affordable Luxury Watches on Leather Straps
If you're looking for a high-quality men's watch on a leather strap at a particularly affordable price, Bruno Söhnle, Certina, and Tissot are among the brands worth checking out.
The Bruno Söhnle Ares II, with a black calfskin strap and matching dial, adds a subtle, lively splash of color with the red hand of its small seconds. At Certina, the dark gray ceramic bezel of the sporty Quarz DS First Ceramic Chronograph pairs especially well with its bold gray leather strap, and Tissot offers the Chemin des Tourelles Powermatic 80 GMT, a watch for frequent travelers whose dark leather strap shows off the silvery-white dial and rose gold-tone case particularly well.
